5 month photo dump

5 months of Emerson

You amaze us more and more each month.  We love seeing your personality emerge.  Every once and awhile I get a glimpse of what I think you'll look like at 2 years old...at 5 years old...and sometimes even at 16 years old.  Time truly is flying by.

You like:
*Daddy's beard.  You discovered it a few weeks ago and now when you touch it our he touched your belly with it you laugh so hard!
*Grabbing for your toys.
*Rolling over.
*Sucking on the satin trim of your "lovey" when you're being rocked to sleep.
*Rolling onto your side immediately when I put you in your crib.  I think this position helps you fall asleep.
*Sleeping on your tummy.

You dislike:
*Getting stuck on your tummy after rolling over.
*When the sun gets in your eyes.
*Having clothes put over your head.
*When you can't get something that fit in your mouth that is entirely too big.  You get really frustrated and yell.

Our favorite things about you are:
*How when you find a new sound to make you repeat it over and over again.
*How you literally YELL when you get frustrated.
*You laugh.  Mama can make you laugh so hard sometimes that it sounds like it hurts.

Weight: 15 lbs 4 oz

Length: I'm not sure.  We'll have to wait until next week when you have your next doctor appointment.

Clothing Size: You are wearing 3-6 month and 6 month clothes!

Diaper Size: Size 2

Feeding:  You still eat every 2.5-3.5 hours now, except at night.

Sleep: You now take 3 naps a day - one usually is around 1.5 hours (sometimes 2 hours) and the other 2 are around 45-50 minutes.  I know we could still improve on those, but our hope is that you will only continue to get better at sleeping the older you get and the better mama gets at reading your sleep cues. Your night sleep is better than what it was last month.  You now go down for bed around 6:00-6:30, depending on when you woke up from your last nap.  You sleep until 10:30 when we wake you up for your dream feeding.  You will then sleep until 4:00-5:30 when you wake up to eat again.  After that you'll sleep until 6:30-7:00.

Milestones:  You rolled over from you back to your tummy!  You still refuse to roll from tummy to back.  You have also found the sound 'n'.  You had your first fever of 101.7!

Adventures: We've been going to the park a lot now that it is nice outside.  You had your first adventure in a swing this month and you loved it!

Mama and Daddy could not get through this month without: Lindsay Corwin - the infant sleep consultant that we hired.  Your naps had been spiraling more and more out of control during the day and your night sleep hadn't been so great either.  I hated having an over-tired baby, so we hired an expert.  In just 2 short weeks, her advice has helped extend your naps and it has also helped you learn how to put yourself to sleep!  You now take 3 naps a day - one usually is around 1.5 hours and the other 2 are around 45-50 minutes.  I know we could still improve on those, but our hope is that you will only continue to get better at sleeping the older you get and the better mama gets at reading your sleep cues.
It's getting harder and harder to get a good picture of you these days.
That's better!
We love you to the moon and back kid.  We think you're pretty awesome!
