8 months of Emerson
I am actually planning your 1st birthday party! I cannot believe that it is already time. It seems like each day that goes by you get happier and sillier. You are constantly finding something to laugh at. You make me laugh every single day with your easy going spirit.
You like:
* Feeding yourself
* Climbing on anyone who is sitting on the ground
* When mommy says, "Bless you child" after you've sneezed
* When anyone sneezes or coughs

* When mommy says, "Bless you child" after you've sneezed
* When anyone sneezes or coughs
You dislike:
* Having purees fed to you. You started refusing to open your mouth and hitting the spoon out of my hand.
* Laying still to have your diaper changed
* Having your face and hands wiped after you've eaten
* Your sippy cup. You throw it on the ground and only want to drink out of mama's water bottle.

Our favorite things about you are:
* The silly click and clacks that you can make with your tongue
* How you love to chase the dogs around. They are now allowed on the couch because that's the only place they can get away from you.
* How curious and smart you are. You are constantly exploring and doing things with you hands.

Weight: I really don't have a clue. It's been months since you've been in to the doctor. My best guess is anywhere between 17.5-18 pounds.
Length: My best guess would be around 30-31 inches.
Clothing Size: You wear anything between 6-12 months.
Diaper Size: We tried putting a size 3 on you and you are just too long and lean. You leak anytime you're wearing a 3, so for now you're still in a size 2.
Feeding: You nurse about every 3-4 hours now during the day. You eat breakfast, lunch and dinner also. For breakfast you typically have organic whole wheat blueberry waffles with some fruit. For lunch and dinner you'll have some kind of meat (chicken, turkey, organic ground beef) along with a fruit and vegetable.
Sleep: We had to put your "dream feed" back in because you started waking up too early. So you go down for bed around 7-7:30 and I'll "dream feed" you at 10. You then will sleep until around 5-6:30, eat again and hopefully go back to sleep until 7-7:30. Somedays you decide that our day should start around 5:30 though.
Milestones: You are now officially saying "mama, dada, dog (you say "d") and all done (you say "ah d").
Adventures: We went on our first family hike in Point Reyes. You sat in your back pack carrier on daddy's back and we enjoyed a picnic together. You were very good boy and you really enjoyed yourself. We also went to Bodega Bay and you saw sand and the ocean for the first time. Of course you ate the sand! You got in the pool for the 1st time at Gabby & Papa's.
Mama and Daddy could not get through this month without: Child proof tools!
We love you to the moon and back kid. We think you're pretty awesome!

It seems like each time I sit down to write this every month that I can think of way more things that you like instead of dislike. That's just the kind of kid you are. Your daddy and I often tell each other how much we lucked out when we got you as our kid! You are such a happy kid. You laugh at pretty much everything. And you are always willing to offer up a smile to someone, especially if I'm holding you.
You like:
* Army crawling everywhere
* Apples & pears with cinnamon
* Spinach & sweet potatoes
* Crawling over to the tile in the dining room or the tile surrounding the fireplace and slapping it
* Trying new solid foods
* Gnawing on frozen mango out of your mesh teething bag
* Laughing!
* Flirting with the people behind us in the check out line at the grocery story.
* Moving A LOT!!

You dislike:
* Having your bib put on or your face wiped
* When mama leaves your sight
* When mama leaves your sight
* Peas
* When your food is gone and mama takes the bowl to the sink

Our favorite things about you are:
* How you gag and shiver when you taste a new food that you don't like
* How you laugh at anything! We don't even have to talk to you. We can just make a funny face and you laugh hysterically.

Weight: When you were weighed about 2 weeks ago you weighed 16 lbs 6.5 oz, so I'm thinking you're probably close to 17 lbs now.
Length: When you were measured about 2 weeks ago you were 27 and 3/4 inches long, so I'm thinking you're around 28 inches long now.
Clothing Size: You wear 6 month clothes, but you even fit into some of your 6-9 month clothes now.
Diaper Size: Size 2 until we use up the last of the box. We have size 3's waiting in the garage for you.
Feeding: You nurse about every 3-4 hours now during the day. You have started eating pureed foods for breakfast and dinner now. For lunch I've been giving you something new to try each day that isn't pureed. So far you've tried peas, ground beef and whole wheat pasta, none of which you've been very fond of.
Sleep: We recently cut out your "dream feed" that we did around 10:30. It's only been 4 days, but I think you're getting used to not being woken up anymore. 3 out of 4 nights you've slept anywhere from 9-10 hours, waking up to eat around 4 or 5am and then falling back asleep until about 7:30.
Milestones: You completely have your bottom 2 teeth now! You sit up very well on your own and only fall backwards when you get really excited or when you want to be done sitting up. You CRAWL everywhere! You aren't up on your hands and knees yet, but your army crawl gets you around just great! You started eating solid foods this last month. So far your favorites are Apples & Pears with Cinnamon and Spinach, Sweet Potato & Carrots. You are already up to eating breakfast, lunch and dinner!
Adventures: You went to Truckee with mama, daddy, Auntie Hannah, and Mark. We spent a fun weekend in Auntie Hannah's parent's cabin.
Mama and Daddy could not get through this month without: All of your teething toys, especially your mesh bag that you love frozen mango in.

| As you can tell, it is getting harder and harder to get a picture of you where you aren't moving. You are such an active kid! |
