3 months of Emerson

Having a child makes you realize just how fast time really does fly!  3 months of your life have already come and gone.  We find ourselves falling more and more in love with you each day.  I'm sure that I am going to be saying this over and over again but...this is my favorite stage so far.  You are becoming so aware of everything around you and interacting with us so much.  In just the past week I have noticed that you are becoming significantly stronger.  You are also just starting to become a more mature baby. The things that really ticked you off and made you cry when you were a newborn, like riding in your carseat and going on walks, don't tick you off and make you cry anymore!

You like:
*Your puppies.  You have started following them around the room with you eyes.
*Practicing sitting up like a big boy.
*Daddy's crazy noises and songs that he makes up for you.  Weekends are a lot louder around our house because daddy is home.  I can't quite make all of the cool noises that he can.
*Playing on your activity gym.  You have started trying to grab and hit at the rings that hang down instead of just kicking them.
*Nakey butt time.  You had quite a bad diaper rash this month, so I gave you a lot of extra nakey butt time.  You showed me how much you loved this by kicking and kicking!

You dislike:
*Your "night night" routine for nap time.  You know when I say it's time for "night night" and start taking you upstairs into your bedroom.  You let me know how much you dislike this by your very loud cries.
* Right when you wake up and I sit you down in the mornings to get myself situated to feed you.  After sleeping for 7-8 hours you are HUNGRY and you DO NOT want to wait to eat.
* When I pick boogers out of your nose.  Sorry kid.  It's a necessary evil.
*  Having clothes put on over your head.

Our favorite things about you are:
*How snuggly and squishy you are at your last feeding of the night.  Mama could sit with you for hours and cuddle you.
*Your belly laugh!  We've gotten a few of these out of you over the last month and it is so adorable!
* The back of your neck.  Mama loves kissing that spot and making you laugh.
*You big baby blues.  Mama's heart pretty much melts every single time she looks into those eyes.
*How you have become quite the Houdini lately.  Most of the time when you wake up from naps or in the morning you have managed to break part of the way or entirely out of your swaddle me wrap.  I would love to get video of how you do it!

Weight: I'm thinking you are around 13 lbs.  You haven't been weighed in a few weeks. A week and a half ago when you were weighed at the doctor you were 12 lbs. 2 oz.

Length: We don't have a well baby check-up this month but we'll find out next month.

Clothing Size: You are in all 3 month clothes now.  I even put a 3-6 month onesie on you and it pretty much fit.  It was just a little too big, so we'll hold off of that size for awhile.

Diaper Size: Still size 1.  Size 2 diapers do fit you, but we are trying to use up our boxes of size 1 before we move you up to a size 2.

Feeding:  You eat every 2.5-3 hours, except at night.

Sleep: Your day time sleep is still REALLY WACKY!  But, we have GREAT news!!  You now sleep 7.5-8 hours STRAIGHT at night.  At about 8 weeks you started sleeping the entire night through.  Mama has worked so hard to get you to take longer naps during the day, but I've come to realize that you get your best sleep at night.  You go to bed around 7:30-8 and I have to wake you up around 10:30-11 to feed you and then you are out until 7am the next morning.

Milestones:  You have given us a few really good belly laughs this month.  You have started sitting up better on your own, with assistance of course.  You sat in your Prince Lionheart Bebe Pod chair for about 5 minutes this week and you really like it.  You are getting so strong!

Adventures: We took a day trip to San Jose to visit your Auntie Hannah and see her new apartment.  Your cousin Riley was born and you went to the hospital to meet her!

Mama and Daddy could not get through this month without:  The advice of friends and family.  Our stroller.  We have taken quite a few LONG walks around the neighborhood and it feels so good to get out during the day.

We love you to the moon and back kid.  We think you're pretty awesome!
