Blessed by my MIL

Today I was majorly blessed by my MIL. It's kind of stressful planning a move ALL BY MYSELF while trying to work full time and get things taken care of around the house for our tenants. Today my mother-in-law gave up 3 hours of her time to:

Come to our house to that we could have some things fixed on our furnace.
Price 3 boxed of garage sale items for me.
And pack up part of my kitchen for me.

I think she deserves the best mother-in-law of the year award!

Don't fear change...

"It's the most unhappy people who most fear change." ~Mignon McLaughlin

I used to totally fear change. But I'm actually looking forward to the tremendous amounts of change that will be taking place in our lives over the next few weeks. I've come to realize that change is a good thing. Seasons come and seasons go. Babies are born and death comes in our lives. God created life for change. We should embrace it and not fear it!

Tomorrow Layton starts a new job. I am so proud of him for pursuing his dreams and for wanting to better himself in his career. Check out the company that he'll be working at starting tomorrow. http://www.path.com/

On May 13 we are moving out of our 2nd home and into our 3rd home in Hercules, CA. Our move out date ended up being pushed up a few weeks due to the fact that the escrow on my sister's house went faster than expected. Her family needed to move into our house 2 weeks earlier than anticipated, so we've been scrambling trying to pull everything together. I'll be living with my parents during the week and going home to Hercules on the weekends until school is over on May 27. Then I'll be in my new home with Layton for good. I'll get to see him EVERY SINGLE NIGHT!!! I am SOOOOO looking forward to that.

The kitchen and great room of our new home.

Birth Month...

So...I don't just celebrate a birthday...I celebrate a birth month...and this birth month was particularly special because I turned the big 3-0!! It was a glorious month, full of wonderful celebrations. I must say that it was a very successful birth month!

I went to SF with my hubby and my bro-in-law & sis-in-law.
I took a bunch of girlfriends on a limo wine tour of Amador county.
I went to Bodega Bay with one of my best friends to celebrate both of our birthdays and our new life adventures! Of course wine tasting was included at my favorite, Gourmet Au Bay!

Craigslist Anonymous...

I think I need to join Craigslist Anonymous. Since we're moving in 2 months, I thought I'd start selling some of our stuff on Craigslist. I just started this morning and I've already sold 3 items for a total of $105.00

It's getting addicting. I'm finding myself walking around the house looking for things to sell! Who knows...when Layton gets home tomorrow night there may be nothing left in our house!!

Dear March & April

Dear March,

You have been the month from the Devil and I will be glad to see you go. You have brought about much stress and tension, including...

...a sister-in-law in the hospital
...loss of an in-law
...death of a loved one and a loved pet
...water leakage in my house
...plenty of missed trains...some due to cows being run over...causing my husband to be home late
...a plethora of research papers to grade
...almost being in a horrible car accident...causing a scratch on my beloved car
...a scary situation with a student in my classroom

Glad to see you go,
Jocelyn

Dear April,

You are my birthday month; therefore, you are always my favorite month of the year! I am so happy that you will wash the bad taste of March from my mouth with...

...my 30th birthday
...a weekend in SF with some of my favorite people...my bro & sis-in-law
...a limo wine tasting bday party with my girls
...a week in Bodega Bay...with an amazing friend and later some amazing family
...a trip to Portland
...packing my house to move

With much love and anticipation,
Jocelyn

In Loving Memory...

Layton's grandma went home to be with the Lord tonight after a 10 year struggle. She was a beautiful woman and will greatly be missed. Her Christ-like example will live on in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In loving memory of Martha Ann Wedgeworth...

Almost 30!!

In 2 weeks from today I turn the B-I-G 3-0!!! In the past few weeks I have had quite a few confidence boosters at work that are making it not so bad to be turning 30. I've been told twice that I dress like a teenager. I was mistaken for a student twice in the hallways. And then the other day a cafeteria worker asked me if I was supposed to have my cell phone out at school becasue he thought I was a senior. I'm sure when I'm 60 I'll enjoy looking 12 years younger than I am :)

About 5 years back a created a list of 30 things that I wanted to do before I turned 30. After awhile I realized that completing my list in 5 short years woudl require me to be a multi-millionaire, so I changed it to a Bucket List. I chip away at about 1 item per year...looks like I'll be working on it until I'm 60!!
